P-PlateThe Pre-Provisional course is the second level of training and needs to be successfully completed before your Learner Licence expires.
Your Learner Rider Licence is valid for 12 months.  You may attend the Pre-Provisional course 3 months after obtaining your Learner Licence.  Once you have your Learner Licence you may go ahead and book your Pre-Provisional course with the RTA at anytime.
The course involves skills practice on the training range followed by a group ride on public roads and a Skills Test. The on-road component is both assessed and coached.  It is not merely a riding test.  If you need further information about the SKILLS TEST, click on the link.  Video's and test area plans are provided for your assistance.

The Pre-Provisional course duration is 8 hours on one day. This timing includes lunch and the Motorcycle Operator Skills Test (M.O.S.T), which is conducted at the end of the course.

By this time, you may have purchased, or have access to a suitable motorcycle to use during this course.  If you do not have access to a Learner Approved Motorcycle (LAM), you may
hire one from WHEEL-SKILLS to use during the course and the Skills Test.  Unlike the Pre-Learner course, a motorcycle is NOT INCLUDED in the course price.

It is your responsibility to arrange a motorcycle.  Please book early if you require a hire bike from WHEEL-SKILLS.  It is also your responsibility to ensure that your riding standard is sufficiently high and you get adequate practice before you attend.  The riding standard for the Pre-Provisional course is obviously higher than that of the Pre-Learner course.

If you need additional practice or assistance to better prepare for this course, consider participating in a WHEEL-SKILLS INTERMEDIATE RIDER TRAINING COURSE.  The INTERMEDIATE COURSE has been specifically structured for this purpose.  Contact your local WHEEL-SKILLS OFFICE to make arrangements.
