Successful completion of this course will qualify you to obtain a NSW Class R Learner Rider Licence. This Licence will enable you to ride on NSW roads, unaccompanied.BEAT THE HEAT - EVENING COURSES AVAILABLE AT TUGGERAH, COFFS HARBOUR & LISMORE.


The Pre-Learner course has been carefully structured to assist new riders to gain the basic riding skills to become safer, sooner. The course is skills based and progressively introduces the most basic skills on day 1 to more advanced skills on day 2. You will be about 1.5 hours into the course before you even start the engine of the training bike.

NOTE: THE MINIMUM AGE FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PRE-LEARNER COURSE IS 16 YEARS & 6 MONTHS.
To arrange a booking for a Pre-Learner course you have 3 alternatives:
1. Visit your local RTA Motor Registry; or
2. Call the RTA Customer Assistance Centre on 13 22 13; or
3. Book online by visiting www.rta.nsw.gov.au/myrta/mytests.
All bookings for the RTA Rider Training must be made directly through the RTA. Although we provide the training, we are unable to take bookings.
IMPORTANT: WHEN MAKING YOUR BOOKING YOU WILL NEED TO SPECIFY IF YOU WANT TO USE A 'MANUAL' OR 'AUTOMATIC' BIKE. THE RTA BOOKING SYSTEM REFERS TO MOTOR SCOOTERS AS 'AUTOMATICS'. IF YOU WISH TO DO THE COURSE ON A SCOOTER, YOU MUST SPECIFY 'AUTOMATIC' WHEN MAKING YOUR COURSE BOOKING, OTHERWISE A SCOOTER MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR TRAINING.
Your Learner Rider’s Licence is valid for a maximum of 12 months. You will need to successfully complete the second level of training, the PRE-PROVISIONAL COURSE (STAGE 2) before your Learner Licence expires – otherwise, you will need to repeat the Pre-Learner course.
Book your Pre-Provisional course early because if you leave it too late and are unable to attend a course before your Learner Licence expires, you will need to repeat the Pre-Learner course – this will be at your expense!
AT TIMES PRE-PROVISIONAL COURSES CAN BE BOOKED OUT FOR UP TO 6 WEEKS IN ADVANCE!
